I am sooo excited about the adventures with this new blog. That all during the prep of supper I was thinking about it.
I HATE cooking! I hate everything about it! I hate planning a meal. I hate shopping for groceries. I hate making the meal. I hate hate hate cleaning up after the meal. (why does everyone suddenly disappear???) I guess I don't hate 'everything' about cooking, because I do LOVE eating the meal!!!
Yes this dandy little sign is hanging about my stove! "I smile because I have no idea what's going on." So true, I think that is maybe why I hate cooking so much. I have no idea what is going on. I mostly burn things because I am afraid to serve something undercooked to my adoring family...that's watching....and not helping.....
So, I have resorted to feeding them ""semi-homemade"" meals. It's a win win for everyone! It equals less time cooking....less mess....and the directions tell me how long to microwave!!!!
Really??? I live in Iowa, but that does not mean I have an unlimited supply of sweet corn out my back door. This Green Giant Steamer stuff is a god send!!!! Love it. Might not taste as good as the fresh picked stuff, but do you know how long it takes to make the 'real stuff.' Not to mention all the nasty corn silk that never completely comes off...this stuff is corn silk free!!!
MMMM.....now let's talk about these bad boys!!!! Who has time to seriously scrub, peel, boil, and mash potatoes? NOT ME!!!! But I do have 10 minutes to pop these babies in the microwave! And this is where the semi-homemade part comes in. When they have cooked their 10 minutes, dump 'em in a bowl. Add 1/4 brick cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, a few slabs of real butter, 1/2 cup milk, and a shake-a shake-a shake of garlic salt, mix 'em with the electric hand mixer and Hello-better than instant potatoes in 15 minutes flat!!!
I could eat the whole heavenly bowl......
Then the meal was completed with some heat and serve bbq ribs...care of Grandma Carri. And you can make these 'semi-homemade' just as easy. Cover 'em with bbq sauce, wrap 'em with tin foil, pop 'em in the oven....ready in a 1/2 hour. (may have cooked too long, didn't want to serve anything undercooked to my 'watching family' --even though they were precooked...ha...)
Come 'n get it......but keep your hands off the Malibu....that's for me later.
